How to be Saved

Jesus can help you with any problem that you have if you will establish a proper relationship with Him. It is easy to do- just follow these simple steps.

Understand the root of all your problems- like every other human being, you were born with a desire to sin against God. Each of us does things in our life that God does not like. The Bible says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Understand the results of your sin- it seperates you from God so that He cannot help you with your life. In fact, you deserve for God to punish you for your sins. Living in this world is more difficult without God. If we are still seperated from Him when we die, our soul continues to suffer in a place called "Hell" forever. The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death..." Romans 10:13

Repent of your sins- decide that you are sorry for the things you have done wrong and that you do not want to be separated from God. The Bible says, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." Psalm 51:17

Believe who Jesus was- He was the Son of God. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Believe that Jesus died on the cross for you-  He suffered so that you would not be punished for your sins. The Bible says, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Pray - ask God to forgive you. Accept Jesus as the one who died to save you and bring peace between you and God. With your sins forgiven, life in this world will be better and your soul will go to "Heaven" when you die. The Bible says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13

Allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life- what you do with your life after He saves you is your gift back to Him. Begin to regularly pray, read the Bible, listen to preaching, and attend church. As you do so, your life will change. We will all have problems of some kind while we are in this world;  but, if we know Jesus, He can help us with our problems and even bless us in spite of them. Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

If you are ready to let Jesus come into your life but you are not sure how to pray- please use the following prayer as a guide. The particular words are not magical. The important thing is that you must be serious in your heart. Ask yourself: are you really sorry about your sins- do you really believe that Jesus was God in a human body and that He died for you- do you really want your life to change in a way that God will be pleased and you will be blessed? If so, please pray this prayer:

"Dear heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner. I am sorry for the things I have done that you do not like. I believe that your son, Jesus, died for me and I accept Him as my Savior. Please forgive my sins, save my soul, come into my life, and help me to live in a way that is pleasing to you. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen."
